To set up a webhook for the ecommerce purchase event, you must configure all other ecommerce events and tags in the web container similar to setting up Google Analytics server-side tracking. The only change required is in the Analytics Configuration Tag (Google Tag) inside the web container.

Follow the steps below for the Google Tag Manager Web Container setup:

STEP 01: Create DataLayer variables

1) Create pixel in AdPage Dashboard.

After creation of the pixel, you'll get the following options:

Custom cooky name: This cookie name is used for the feature cookie keeper. This cookie should be set by the server and should contain a unique value for the user that ideally lasts for 1 year or longer. If you do not want to use the cookie keeper feature or if it is not possible, you can leave it at the default value. The cookie keeper feature is only active when a cookie is found.

2) Installation of our marketing helpers

After linking a domain name, you will have access to our marketing helpers. This is a JavaScript file that assists in correctly generating the marketing object. The marketing object is a JavaScript object that contains self-generated and cookie values. This object is essential for setting up, especially in combination with webhooks.

The script is available through following URL:

We often see that filling in information and giving authorizations is a bit more difficult for some, but it is still important that we receive the necessary information and authorizations. Because without it we cannot implement server-side tagging. Below, a little more explanation will be given per platform about how to get to the screens as in the videos.

Google Tag Manager

To get to the screen you see in the Google Tag Manager video, go to: https://tagmanager.google.com/#/home.

If you don't see an account or containers there, you can create an account first. Name that account after your company name, select the country where you are active and under 'Container Setup' select 'Internet' and name the container with the URL of your site. You could then follow the steps in the video for that account.

If you already have an account and a container on Google Tag Manager, you can simply follow the video on tagging.adpage.io.

Google Analytics

The tracking method

We want to send tracking event information from our website to a specific ActiveCampaign contact. For example, when a user clicks on our website, our goal is to send that information to ActiveCampaign. However, sending event tracking information for different users is not as simple as creating a tag on a page. The reason for this is that an Event Key needs to be sent along with the data to successfully track users.

Events Whitelisten in ActiveCampaign

Within Tracking in your ActiveCampaign, you can create events in the Events section. Give an event a clear name and click on 'add'. Only events that are added here (and thus whitelisted) can be tracked.

Google Tag Manager

When setting up Google Analytics 4, you have already made sure that there is a GA4 Client and a GA4 Configuration. Inside GA4 on the server side, you are going to create Variables that will collect user information.

Create a new Variable within the server side. As Variable Configuration, select 'Event Data'. Add your Key Path in the 'Key Path' (Key Path), and save.
