Link DNS CNAME subdomain

Your own Tagging Server will point to your own domain name. This way, you can collect data based on First Party. Please follow the steps below or pass them on to your website administrator.

When you create a server container on trytagging, you need to fill in a Container Domain for your server.

This Container Domain must match what you add as a CNAME record in your DNS settings.

If you enter tagging.yourdomainname.nl here, you need to take the following steps with your domain name provider:

Go to your domain name provider.
Navigate to the DNS settings of your domain.
Select the domain name or domain names you want to link to your own Tagging server.
Add a CNAME record with the name “tagging”.
Set the CNAME value to “projects.trytagging.com.” (don’t forget the period at the end).

Do you want to use a different subdomain name than “tagging”? Then you need to use the same name both within trytagging and with your domain provider.

As an example, we have created a guide for 5 domain name providers. These 5 providers are:

TransIP
Argeweb
Mijndomein
YourHosting
Strato

For each domain name provider, this process works slightly differently. Sometimes, you don’t need to place a period after the value ‘projects.trytagging.com’, and sometimes you need to write out the full name of your server domain name instead of just “tagging”.
