Setting Up a MailChimp Tag on sGTM Container

Setting up a MailChimp tag in your SGTM container allows you to send important event data, such as user actions or conversions, directly to MailChimp. This helps you track specific actions taken by users, such as signing up, making a purchase, or clicking a link. Connecting this data to MailChimp lets you organize your audience and customize your email campaigns based on their real-time actions.

Let’s get started🚀

Add MailChimp Tag Template

For setting up a MailChimp tag, you first need to add the MailChimp tag template to your GTM server container. This template helps organize and send event data to MailChimp, ensuring that the information is captured correctly. Adding the template sets up the foundation for smooth data transfer and audience segmentation.

In this demonstration, we will guide you through the process of adding the template.

Create a Event-ID Variable

After the tag template is added, you will have to create the Event-ID variable. This variable ensures that each event is tracked individually, helping GTM send accurate event data to MailChimp without confusion. It serves as a unique identifier for every action.

In this demonstration, we will guide you through the process of creating and setting up this variable.

Create a MailChimp Tag

With the Event-ID variable set up, you can now create the MailChimp tag. This tag will send the event data from sGTM to MailChimp, ensuring that the correct information is delivered for each tracked event.

When creating the MailChimp tag in sGTM, you need to configure the hashed email address to ensure privacy and security. If you're not sure how to hash an email address, refer to the documentation Creating Hashed email addresses

In this demonstration, we will guide you through the process of creating and configuring the MailChimp tag.

Create a MailChimp Trigger

After creating the MailChimp tag, you need to set up a trigger. The trigger makes sure the tag only sends data when necessary, such as when a specific event ID is present. This way, you ensure that only relevant event data is sent to MailChimp.

In this demonstration, we will guide you through the process of creating and configuring the MailChimp trigger.
